Tomorrow we expect the final flight to EGRIP. Hopefully, we will receive the Pistenbully that will pull the science traverse 400+ km from EGRIP to the former GRIP site along the ice flow line. The skiway and apron were made nice by groooming. In the garages, teams worked on assembling equipment for the traverse. There are several check lists to go through: Fuel, generators, food, survival equipment, snowmobiles, communication, sampling equipment etc.. Anders and Frederik are preparing food for the traverse, and at the same time feeding us all. They make up a really good team in the kitchen.
What we did today:
- Opened ramp access to trenches.
- Built a Weatherport on heavy sled and mounted bunkbeds.
- Grooming skiway and apron.
- Working on two radars and shallow drill.
- Traverse planning: Materiel, radios, GPS, emergency beacons etc.
- Preparing traverse food in the kitchen.
Weather today: Few scattered clouds, in the evening overcast with light snow. Temp. −12°C to −8°C. Wind: 9 − 20 kt from WSW. Visibility: mostly good. Some drifting snow.
