Most of the day, it was not worth it to work outside. Forecast for tomorrow however, tells us about a good long day of work ahead. We have a lot of cleaning up to do. There are snowdrifts everywhere and we need to excavate cargo in camp. Also, we need to prepare for flights by the 109th who will bring in a repair team to fix the broken plane. We will erect two weatherports to accommodate the repair team.
On traverse, the team continued along its route and is now about 80 km from the GRIP site. All are well on traverse.
EGRIP had regular communication with the traverse via several devices.
What EGRIP did in the weekend:
- Keeping vehicles free from snow.
- Spending most of the day in-door.
- Doing laundry.
- Contact with traverse.
Weather today: Weather improved today, particularly the wind speed has dropped from 20 kt in the morning to 5 kt in the evening. This improved visibility from 100 m to 1 km. It is still overcast with light snow. No horizon and poor contrast. Traverse reported of similar weather conditions.
What traverse did today:
- Proceeded to WP240 (73.2469 N; 38.7296 W) and arrived at 1820L.
- Made pit studies and took a couple of liner samples.
- Radars running.
- Digging out radar and snowmobiles from snow drifts. Keeping generator running and free from snow and ice.
- One snowmobile not working properly. This does not slow the traverse.
