June 9: Another good development. There were flights to both EGRIP and Summit

After the successful location of an intact GRIP borehole, all main objectives of the science traverse were reached. There was a bit of worry about whether the 109th were able to fly to Summit Station to take out the science traverse team and exchange with a small team to drive the traverse train back to EGRIP. Luckily, the plane came and Helle, Susanne, Samira, Christoph, Kevin, Niels, Steff and Anders KH left Summit for Kangerlussuaq and Anders S, Anna Maria and Florian took over. The three are now preparing to drive to EGRIP.

At EGRIP, we received Skier 11 that brought a twelve-person repair crew, repair equipment and spareparts for the broken plane here at EGRIP. At the same time, the 109th crew, Paul, who has been here for almost two weeks left camp. We are now 21 people in camp. New company is always interesting. Meanwhile, camp team is helping out. For instance, our cook, Frederik, needs a bit of help in the kitchen. The 109th team brought some good stuff for us too: Fresh vegetables and fruit!

What EGRIP did today:

1. Receiving Skier 11, bringing in twelve 109th staff.
2. Helping out getting people settled at EGRIP.
3. Helping with setting up equipment for the 109th.
4. Almost finished excavating garages.
5. Grooming skiway.

Weather today: Mostly sunny, with few periods of thin clouds. Temp. -22 to -14 C, 6 – 14 kt from W, visibility unrestricted.

What traverse today:

1. Unloading final equipment at GRIP
2. Driving traverse train to Summit Station.
3. Crew of eight leave and crew of three take over.
