The traverse crew worked very hard Saturday, collecting and stowing all remaining cargo at EGRIP onto sled trains. Frozen food was taken out from a snow cave and stowed. By Sunday morning the traverse set off towards GRIP. EGRIP site is now empty. At GRIP, we finished frame work for both garages, and we were discussing when it would be appropiate to mount the covers. It has turned out that today, Sunday, is not a good day for mounting covers. By late morning, the wind picked up, and we got into blizzard conditions with blowing snow and very poor visibility. At GRIP, we had to stay in door all day. We’ll see if weather improves tomorrow.
What we have done in the weekend:
1. Loading up 2nd traverse at EGRIP site.
2. Traverse departed EGRIP at 10.00L Sunday morning. They finished at 22.00L, 229 km from GRIP/116 km from EGRIP.
3. Completed framework for Mechanic’s garage.
4. Cleaned up under dome.
5. Marked out apron.
Weather Saturday: Broken clouds most of the day. Temp. -25 to -16 C, 2-10 kt from W turning NW. Visibility good.
Weather Sunday: Overcast with increaing wind and blowing snow. Visibility down to 200m. Temp. -22 rising to -9 C. 20-30 kt from S to SW.
