July 8: Weather improves a lot, and 2nd traverse is completed.

Hurray! The 2nd traverse has arrived at GRIP. Now, we have all our equipment and fuel at GRIP, and all 12 people are again together. The traverse has made so good time that we are now back on schedule. Precisely today, is the scheduled day of arrival of the traverse. Good work traverse crew: Florian, Sepp and Sverrir. The transfer of EGRIP camp to GRIP is now completed. We now have a more than a week to get things organized for closing the season. Today, weather improved tremendously. For the first time at GRIP, we have sunshine, low winds and fantastic visibility. We were able to cover mechanic’s garage, and tomorrow we’ll cover the carpenter’s garage. Then we can unpack and restore the interior of these garages.
Here is a short note on Pistenbully activities: Pistenbully 1 has driven about 550 km this season. Pistenbully 2 has driven about 1600 km and Pistenbully 3 has driven 6 times between EGRIP and GRIP, in total 2100 km. Quite some mileage.

What we have done today:

1. 2nd traverse drove from 9.00L and carried on until 20.00L, when they arrived at GRIP.
2. Placed more markers on skiway.
3. Completed mechanics garage.

Weather: Overcast in the morning, in the afternoon clearing and evening sunshine. 4-8 kt from S and SE, temp -15 C to -8 C. Visibility in the morning 2 km, in the evening to horizon.
