Monday, May 4, the FOMs made the final preparations for the arrival of the first team, and on Tuesday, May 5, the team arrived to Kangerlussuaq with Air Greenland from Copenhagen.
In the evening, the team attended a talk by Jørgen Peder at the community house together with many locals, SAR helicopter and military participants, where delicious cake were served. Even the English-speaking participants enjoyed the interesting talk in Danish, complemented by many great videos and photos.
During the following days, the FOMs and the team prepared for the planned flight to Summit Station and the snowmobile journey from there to GRIP, in close collaboration with the very friendly cargo team from the 109th.
On Thursday, May 7, the team departed as planned and safely reached Summit and continued all the way to GRIP, where they arrived around 15:30 local Greenland time and began opening the camp.
What the FOMs and the team have done Monday to Thursday:
- Serviced the snowmobiles and prepared them for transport.
- Cleaned and prepared the Nansen sledges for transport.
- Defrosted the frozen container from Copenhagen.
- Prepared medicine and food supplies.
