May 22: “A flurry of activity”

With the all the critical cargo from Skier 41 in camp, everybody are now busy getting the various items organized, and put into good use. The drillers now have their new drill tent at hand, along with all their drilling equipment. Charlotte and Rahul have all the solar panels that are to be mounted on the dome on another pallet, and Anders has all the boxes of frozen food he can wish for (quote: “This is almost like Christmas”), that he is busy getting organized into the white tent.
Now that the flight period is finally over, we also had time to thoroughly familiarize our new camp members with our polar bear safety procedures, building on the initial general safety briefing they got upon arrival in camp.
On the skiway we could observe the tracks of yesterdays flight mission, impressively all tracks of Skier 41 were basically on top of each other, another testament to the professionalism of the crew. Regardless, such tracks need to be erased by grooming, which Tom did after having levelled the area around the berm of the drill tent. In the evening we had a marvellous dinner with a main course of redfish, Anders is already making the most of all the new food we have in camp!

What we did this Friday:
1. Breaking down pallets and organizing cargo.
2. Organizing frozen food.
3. Continued work on drillers workshop.
4. Leveling around berm from drill tent.
5. Continued preparations for solar panel project.
6. Groomed skiway, apron and taxiway to erase tracks from Skier 41.
7. Held extended polar bear safety briefing for new camp members.

Weather: Generally sunny conditions. Temp from -31C to -15C. Wind 2-8 kts generally from SW and gradually increasing.
