June 13: A really good day for the 109th and for us too

Again, a lot of things happened today, almost at once. Since the morning, we have been giving weather updates to both 109th in Kangerlussuaq and to the GEUS Twin Otter out of Pitufik AB. Skier 51 arrived at EGRIP at 15.45 with a flight crew for the now repaired LC-130. While 109th and EGRIP staff loaded Skier 51 with repair kit and repair crew, the flight crew took over the repaired plane and started engines. The plane became Skier 52. Skier 52 took off at 17.04 and Skier 51 took off at 17.16. The 109th have now truly left EGRIP. At 17.23 the GEUS Twin Otter landed, so within 30 min, we handled three aircraft. EGRIP control tower was rather busy. Twelve 109th crew left EGRIP and four GEUS staff and two pilots came. We are now 18 people in camp. Meanwhile, collecting and sorting of EGRIP equipment and materiel continued. We aim at departing EGRIP site on Wednesday next week.

What EGRIP today:

1. Receiving Skier 51. Said good bye to Skier 51 and 52.
2. Arranging cargo on sleds for traverse.
3. Receiving GEUS Twin Otter.
4. EGRIP control tower rather busy.

Weather today: Overcast in the morning, later sunny. Temp. -22 to -8 C, 6 – 12 kt from SSW and SW, visibility unrestricted.
